November Students of the Month

The November Students of the Month at Spearman High School are seniors, Ella Wilkerson and Chance Swan.

 

Ella Wilkerson is the daughter of Chad and Samantha Wilkerson. She has one older brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Calli Wilkerson, as well as two nieces, Olivia and Blair.  Ella is active in Spearman Lynxette varsity basketball – 4 years, Track – 3 years, and Cheerleading – 4 years.  She is also active in National Honor Society,Student Counciland First Baptist Church Youth. Ella is currently serving as the Cheer Captain, Senior Class Vice-President, Student Council Secretary, and National Honor Society Treasurer.  In past years, she has also received the following awards: Freshman Class Secretary, Freshman Class Favorite, Sophomore Class Secretary, Sophomore Class Favorite, Junior Class President, 2024 Football Homecoming Queen, and has been listed on the All A Honor Roll throughout high school. In athletics, she was named 2024 1st Team All-District in basketball, received the 2024 Lynxette Fighting Heart Award, is in the Lynxette 10,000 Club, was named Academic All-District in basketball and track for the past 3 years, and was a cross country regional qualifier. In her spare time, Ella enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing basketball, and watching movies. Her future plans include attending college at either Texas Tech University or West Texas A&M University to pursue an RN degree and become a medical esthetician. Ella’s most memorable high school moment was the successful basketball season they had last year – going further than any Lynxette team had gone in over a decade. The thing she likes most about Spearman is, “Everyone know you and supports all of your activities.  It is a great place to grow up.” A fun fact that a lot of people probably don’t know about Ella is that she knows how to surf. Ella’s most influential teacher during her school years is Mrs. Cheryl Whitefield.

 

Chance Swan is the son of Lance and Sally Swan. He has one older brother and sister-in-law, Reid and Haley Swan, and one younger brother, Hudson Swan. While in high school, Chance has been involved in the Green Cord program, National Honor Society, Student Council, FFA, Spanish Club, UIL Academic Competition, and Lynx Varsity Tennis.  He is currently serving as the NationalHonor Society President, Senior Class President, FFA President, and Student Council Vice-President. Chance has also been named the Top Student of the Year in English 1 with Honors, AP English 3, US History 1302, Chemistry 1405, Physics with Honors, and Speech 1311. He was a Regional Qualifier for science UIL in 2022 and an area qualifier in FFA Extemporaneous Speaking and Ag Issues in 2023, 2024, and 2025.  In his spare time, Chance likes hanging out with his friends, especially at the tennis courts. He also likes to read and watch movies. His future plans include attending four-year college to major in Biology and either go to medical school or earn his PhD. Chance’s most important lesson that he has learned while attending SISD is, “Cherish all memories and friendships because at some point they will be in the past.”  When asked to describe his senior year in three words Chance reports, “Challenging, scary, and transitional.” The thing Chance most likes about Spearman is, “Teachers and administrators actually care about you and your school career.”  Chance’s most influential teacher during his school years is Ms. Lisa Carthel.
