A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Meiwes' students for their incredible creativity in designing a beautiful Whoville display, bringing holiday cheer to the staff and making this season extra special.
Staff members took part in a toy drive to benefit local children. A special thanks goes to Mr. Fifield's students for their assistance in delivering the gifts.
The high school art students took part in a local art contest. All of their artwork was showcased at the staff Christmas party. Three talented artists were selected as winners, and their pieces were transformed into canvas prints that they could take home after the event.
Congratulations to Cy Davis. He was named the Wolf Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen's Award Winner for Spearman High School. We are very proud of you, Cy!

UIL HOLIDAY RESTRICTION. A school shall not conduct contests or practices, use school facilities, personnel or equipment during five consecutive days of December. Any organized or required practice will be a violation of this regulation.
Spearman ISD will hold our 5 days from Sunday, Dec 22nd-Dec26th.
All campuses will have an early release tomorrow, Dec. 20th, 2024.
School will begin at the regular time. The first bell is at 7:55 a.m. The tardy bell is at 8:00 a.m.
Gus Birdwell will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.
Spearman Junior High will be dismissed at 12:14 p.m.

Teresa Gomez, Named December Teacher on the Rise
Teacher on the Rise is an exciting teacher recognition program, driven by nominations from students and parents, and proudly supported by United Supermarkets, Mrs. Baird’s Bread, Tyler’s BBQ, and Horse Creek Boutique. Each month, three outstanding educators are chosen from across the Texas Panhandle—one each from elementary, middle school, and high school—and are rewarded with an impressive prize package valued at over $300. The lucky student who nominates a winning teacher also receives a $50 gift card.
On Friday, December 13th, students and staff gathered to celebrate a special moment at Gus Birdwell Elementary, where it was revealed that one of their own had been named a Teacher on the Rise. Kindergarten teacher Teresa Gomez was completely surprised and thrilled to learn she had earned the prestigious award.
Diego Cardenas nominated Teresa Gomez:
“Hi, my name is Diego Cardenas. I am a BLESSED six-year-old in Ms. Gomez’s Kindergarten class. I think Ms. Gomez deserves this recognition for several reasons. First of all, she is an outstanding kindergarten teacher who goes above and beyond for every one of us. She starts and ends her day with a sincere smile. She has never raised her voice and will always bend down to look into my eyes when talking to me. She has taught me how to read and it’s not even December yet! I have seen her leave school very late some days, and oftentimes, doesn’t finish her sandwich (her lunch) during her lunch break. That is because she takes us to lunch and doesn’t leave unless all of us are sitting down eating our food. By the time she makes it back to class to eat her food while she checks folders and what not, it’s already time for her to pick us up! Ms. Gomez has also taken my water bottle, lunch box, or jacket back to my Mom’s class when I forget it in her class. I know she must have some bad days, especially when her allergies get to her, but I have never seen her sad, mad or frustrated; she is a real superhero, because that is a great superpower. She isn’t only my teacher but she is my nurse, my shoulder to cry on, my counselor, and my friend-she calls me friend! Second of all, Ms. Gomez is very empathetic. She will worry about me if I feel sick or emotional. She will give me the best hugs when my Mommy isn’t around. I think I am very intelligent because Ms. Gomez tells me so, and I believe her! Lastly, I am sure that if Ms. Gomez wins, she will share her prize with her Daddy! She is the most selfless person I know, and I am proud to call her MY teacher!” Love, Diego Cardenas

Students had an enjoyable day at the Migrant Education College 1st Architecture and Construction Camp at Region 16.
Each month, the Board of Education acknowledges the achievements of employees. This month, the second grade, junior high, and high school math departments were recognized.
A group will be here to begin ditching and running fiber starting Monday, Dec. 16th through Friday Dec. 20th. The map indicates where the ditching will take place.
During the week of Dec.16-20th, we ask that...
- SHS students refrain from parking along Walter Wilmeth next to Lynx Stadium.
- SHS students enter/leave the student parking lot from Walter Wilmeth and not Lynx
Lane until instructed otherwise.
-Traffic will be allowed through Lynx Lane, but please be cautious of the workers.
