The letter jackets have arrived! Super excited for our students who received their lettermen jackets this year. We are proud of all of our SHS students who go above and beyond to participate in a multitude of extracurricular activities.
We had a great visit today from Navy recruiter BM1(SW) Justin Apolinar. He gave class talks to all of our Government and Economics students. He also got to visit with future Navy enlistee, Sid de Leon.
It's a great day to be a Lynx!

Good luck to the Mighty Lynx Bands at solo and ensemble contest. The junior high band students will compete Friday and high school band students will compete Saturday.

Future Awareness Day is celebrated the first Wednesday of each month.


It's Future Awareness Day at Spearman HS! We are celebrating members of the Class of 2023 who have been accepted into a college, university, or military branch. These students have been accepted to Clarendon College, Amarillo College, and Garden City Community College.
On Thursday, February 2 Spearman Junior High will be on an alternate bell schedule to allow time for students to complete the STAAR pilot test in the afternoon.
All junior high students will go to lunch at 12:30.
Dalhart has moved games up to 5:00pm and 6:30pm tonight due to ice and snow in Dalhart.
JV games are canceled.

Tomorrow is Future Awareness Day.

Students of the Month at
Spearman High School
The January Lion’s Club Students of the Month at Spearman High School are seniors, Kerstyn Connelly and Cason Mackie.
Kerstyn is the daughter of James and Kiki Connelly. She has one older sister, Avery Connelly. Kerstyn has been active in Spearman Basketball and Cross Country – 3 years, Tennis – 2 years, Student Council – 4 years, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Panhandle. While in high school, Kerstyn was named Freshman Class Favorite, Sophomore Class Favorite, was the Sophomore Homecoming attendant, and a Senior Homecoming Queen candidate. Kerstyn has also received the Top Student of the Year Award in Principles of Ag, Child Development, and English 3. In her spare time, Kerstyn likes hanging out with her mom, going to Sonic, and hanging out with her friends. Kerstyn’s plans after high school include attending the Dallas Skin Institute to become an esthetician. Kerstyn states the best thing about Spearman is, “I love the fact that I feel safe and secure in Spearman, plus it’s quiet and peaceful. Also, I know a lot of the people that live here, and I know I matter to them. They are interested in what I’m doing, they are supportive, they watch out for me, and they want the best for me.” The best thing about Spearman High School is, “The students are individuals with different needs and learning styles. I know that all my teachers did everything they could to help me be successful, and for that I am very grateful.” Kerstyn’s most influential school personnel during her school years are Miriam Rodriguez and Ashley Goodheart.
Cason is the son of Dustin and Morgan Mackie. He has one older sister, Candice Mackie, and one younger brother, Cash Mackie. While in high school, Cason has been active in Spearman Lynx football, basketball, and track, National Honor Society, Student Council, and First Baptist Church youth. He is currently serving as the Student Council President. Cason has been named Academic All-District for four years in football, basketball, and track, and most recently, Academic All-State First Team in football. Cason was also named the Lynx Defensive Player of the Year, 2nd Team All District Wide Receiver and 2nd Team All-District Linebacker. In his spare time, Cason enjoys sports and spending time with his friends and family. Cason’s future plans include attending college at either the US Military Academy at West Point, Hardin-Simmons University, West Texas A&M University, or Texas Tech University. Cason states the best thing about Spearman is, “Everyone helps out one another in the community and good character is emphasized.” The best thing about Spearman High School is, “I like that I have grown up with the same group of people and we have stayed close friends as we finish high school.” When asked about his most influential teacher during his school years Cason states, “I have had numerous influential teachers and coaches and I am unable to pick just one.”
Congratulations to Kerstyn and Cason on being named the January Lion’s Club Students of the Month at Spearman High School.
