The SJH GT students held a mock 2024 Presidential Election on November 5, 2024.
The students have worked for the past month to prepare voter registration cards and ballots for each student as well as creating their own grade level ballot boxes. A special thank you to Ms. Mendoza and Mrs. Pittman for allowing the students to vote in their classes throughout the day.
After the students and staff casts their votes, the students tallied the ballots and were able to declare Donald J. Trump the winner with 150 votes to Kamala Harris’s 17 votes. The students also determined that Trump received 88% of the votes compared to Harris’s 12%.
A big thank you goes to the administration and staff for helping to make this mock election a success.

On Friday, November 1, 2024, the Spearman Welding Team, consisting of Kevin Lopez, Oaklee Womble, Slade Brown, and Damien Enriquez, traveled to Perryton for their 3rd Annual Welding Build-Off.
The Spearman competed against seven other teams in building a collapsible welding table. Each team had to interpret a blueprint to create the final product, which proved to be quite challenging.
Teams were evaluated based on their use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), utilization of tools, adherence to safety protocols, and overall craftsmanship.
In the end, the Spearman Welding Team secured 3rd place, finishing behind strong competitors from Floydada and Slaton.
These teams will meet again when we travel to Slaton on the 20th for the S-Town Build-Off.
If you see these young men around school or town give them a shout-out for a job well done!!!
On Tuesday, November 5th, SISD will show support for Dax Schneider by wearing red as he undergoes heart surgery. We invite the entire community to join us in this show of encouragement.
